30 Days of Fandom Meme: Day 22

22 – Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?

I’ve never done a Big Bang, but I’ve done a lot of exchanges; Sutcliff Swap and Yuletide are probably the two main ones that I’ve done over the years. I love Sutcliff Swap because I've made some lovely friends through the fandom and because the overall quality is generally so high (particularly for the art; I recall beautiful drawings by [livejournal.com profile] motetus and [livejournal.com profile] alby_mangroves in particular). Yuletide, on the other hand, is less tight-knit (though I've made some friends through it, too; hi, [livejournal.com profile] entwashian!), but has this huge fandom-wide participation aspect that I find so appealing. People have been nattering about possible nominations since at least August - or rather, they’ve kicked into high gear about it; people bring up possible noms for next Yuletide basically from January 1st on.

I’ve gotten a bit less apt to sign up for exchanges, but I love to write treats. I’ll trawl through exchange letters to pick up good prompts; I’m working on a few ficbits for [livejournal.com profile] trickortreatex right now, in fact, even though I didn’t sign up.

A new Moleskine! It sounds like providence. I'm just saying. :)

Indeed.

As I sat pondering my new Moleskine and beautiful new pencils and things, I thought, wouldn't it be great to start a project that's just ...Steve's sketches. And then I could draw things that might interest Steve, perhaps as he might draw them; things like his neighbourhood and the people in it. The friends he remembers, like Peggy and the Howling Commandos. And Bucky. Lots and lots of Bucky and new friends like Nat and Sam.

Yes. Yes I think it would be a great project :D

So I went for it :D

Yessssss. I approve!

Have you ever seen John Sloan's New York street paintings? They're a bit before Steve's time, but I could see Steve responding to the everyday people aspect of that work.

I've looked at Sloan's paintings a lot since you mentioned them. So gorgeous.

....and I had to look up a beanbag chair today and fit Bucky into it in my mind :D

Does this mean we are getting naked Bucky in a beanbag chair art? I approve! (Or clothed Bucky. Not picky!)

Yesssssssss and he is half clothed, nom nom \o/

I CAN'T WAIT.

Once it's posted and everything, I may include a link to it at the end of Sketch. Would you be all right with that?

Of course! I'll send you a link and will be thrilled for you to use wherever you see fit! <3
