I don't think Martini quite realizes that he's sort of in love with Arthur till the end, though, so any OT3 would HAVE to be a fix-it where Arthur gets rescued. It would be a very emotionally fraught OT3, given how much trouble they all have communicating! Plus of course Arthur would need a lot of nursing after his ordeal...
I suppose I wish that Montanelli sort of embraced that hypocrisy at the end and helped Arthur escape, despite not being willing to run away with him. Arthur has just been strapped to a table for a week! He's not right in the head just at this moment! Don't let him throw his life away, help his comrades save him, and maybe you two can sort out your relationship at some future date. BUT NO. CLEARLY NOT TRAGIC ENOUGH.
