Year Five

YOU GUYS YOU GUYS. I have just realized! This is going to be my fifth year doing Yuletide! I should throw myself a party!

[livejournal.com profile] sineala, who knows me too well: A tea party?

It is true that I throw myself tea parties for almost all occasions. (If I am drinking out of a mug, it is just tea. If there is a teapot involved, then it is a party.)

But for this reason, I’m thinking I should branch out for my Yuletide anniversary. Because it’s Yuletide! I should do something special! Possibly involving traditional Christmas desserts?

I COULD GO WASSAILING.

...maybe I should just stick to making myself figgy pudding. Apparently some recipes involve setting it on fire at the end! I might burn down my apartment. Perhaps I could make gingerbread. Gingerbread with caramel sauce!

In any case, possibly I should wait until I’ve actually completed my Yuletide story before throwing myself a party. Or at least gotten my assignment. Or at least signed up.

you could burn a Yulegoat effigy. XD

That's a pretty excellent milestone.

If you can wait to celebrate 'til mid-December, and are willing to come to the Mid-Atlantic, you can join us at the Dickens-style Yule dinner I am having with friends. Fancy dress not entirely optional.

I have a tea party every single morning then. :D I like this idea. A pyjama tea-party.

Lighting a pudding on fire sounds like the BEST kind of celebration.

Pajama tea party! Are pillow fights involved? (That might put the teapot in jeopardy, though. Must think about this.)

It's hard to go wrong with lighting stuff on fire!

I have never burnt anything in effigy! It could be exciting!

First I must figure out how to make a Yulegoat effigy. Paper mache, perhaps? Does paper mache burn well?

Aw, that sounds amazing. Will there be a roast Christmas goose? Is someone going to play the part of Tiny Tim?

Sadly I don't think my travel budget will allow it, but you should totally post a million pictures so we can all admire!

Gingerbread with caramel sauce...oh, yum. And a little whipped cream.

Or ice cream! Last year I had the most glorious dessert at a local restaurant, gingerbread with persimmon ice cream and caramel sauce. It was amazing.

I'm positive that I've seen some Christmas tea in one of the fancy tea shops that have a million different types of tea for me to spend my money on (I wasn't brave enough to try the sticky toffee pudding tea, because ewwww). I expect it would be lots of dried fruit and christmassy spices? But then I'm more of a leaf tea fan rather than fruit and herbal stuff.

Huh, I've always set my Christmas puddings on fire, I thought everyone did that. I don't think I've had figgy pudding before though, and as I love figs, I'm thinking I should totally try that this year.

I actually went to a special Christmas tea two years ago, and I'm sure we must have had some special Christmas blend, but sadly I can't remember in any more detail than that.

I have never actually made a Christmas pudding, possibly because I didn't realize "Light the pudding on fire" was one of the steps. That made it shoot right up my list of recipes to try.

That's awesome, congrats!

Also, we really need to live closer to each other. I want to go wassailing!! (Although, I'd also just be happy with Christmas with snow at this point.)

Someone really needs to invent a teleportation device, because it would be so great to have LJ friends reunions. It's so hard to find people who are excited about wassailing!
