Collect Them All
Apr. 19th, 2013 12:06 amWhen I mentioned that I’m planning to watch Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries,
carmarthen mentioned that she wanted fic, and my brain accomplished one of the loop de loops that it is wont to make, and I cried, “If I wrote Miss Fisher fic, I would have written fic set on four of the seven continents! I COULD COLLECT THEM ALL.”
Then I contemplated the difficulty of writing Antarctica fic (and, let’s face it, South America fic. I am pretty sure the last thing I read/saw that was set in South America was The Motorcycle Diaries, which, no) and decided that this was clearly a bad life choice.
“You could do fandoms A to Z instead!” suggested
sineala.
Which is also a bad life choice, because how will I get a fandom for Z? Or for U? Surely it is a bad idea to try to find fandoms purely because they have a letter that I need.
And yet the idea will not leave my head! (Indeed, I haven’t even really given up on the ‘seven continents’ thing. It would just be so cool, you guys.) So I bequeath unto you a list. The letters I’ve already done are filled in. The ones in (parentheses) are the fandoms that don’t have a fic, but that I’ve previously considered writing fic in.
A. American Girl - Felicity
B. Blood Feud
C. Code Name Verity
D. Downton Abbey
E. Eagle of the Ninth
F. Frontier Wolf
G. Glee
H. Hetalia
I. (I Capture the Castle, by Dodie Smith)
J. (Juniper, by Monica Furlong)
K. Kamikaze Girls
L. Lizzie Bennet Diaries
M. Les Miserables
N. (Northanger Abbey, by Jane Austen)
O. Obernewtyn Chronicles
P. Psych
Q. Queen’s Thief
R. (Rome)
S. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
T. Torchwood
U.
V. Vikings
W. White Christmas
X.
Y. (Young Wizards)
Z.
I’ve been flirting with the idea of Northanger Abbey fic (Henry and Catherine banter!) and Rome fic for basically forever, so this might be worth doing just for that. I daresay a fandom beginning with U will appear eventually. Possibly something to do with unicorns?
Basically I am simply enchanted with the idea of sets of things right now. Diptych in Amber went so well! Think of the possibilities for fic series named after, say, the four seasons! Best of all - think how easy it would be to title them!

It occurs to me, on the topic of U, that I am about to read a book entitled Unspoken. Although I think the trilogy name is something different and not-starting-with-U. Hmmm.
