The pacing is so odd! If you go into it knowing there's witchcraft, you're wondering where the hell is the witchcraft, and if you go into it without that knowledge it must be VERY strange to get a hundred pages of reasonably ordinary English spinster fiction... and then suddenly the kitten bites her finger and somehow she's sold her soul to Satan? WHAT. Is it truly that easy to sell one's soul to Satan. A bit worrisome tbh, clearly one could do it by accident.
